Terry George (born December 20, 1952) is an Irish screenwriter and director. Born and raised in Belfast, much of his film work (e.g. The Boxer, Some Mother's Son, and In the Name of the Father) involves the Troubles in Northern Ireland.His other films include Hotel Rwanda, Hart's War and A Bright Shining Lie.He and his family, wife, the former Margaret Higgins, daughter Oorlagh, and son, Seamus, divide their time between County Down, Northern Ireland and Pleasantville, New York, United States.He faced deportation from the United States but was allowed to remain following Irish-American lobbying efforts on his behalf. His wife is a naturalized United States citizen, and their son is a United States citizen by birth.
